Quotes for a Quiet Heart

August 13, 2013 by: Brian Chesemore

In Psalm 131, David teaches us how to do something very foreign to our anxiety-prone hearts--to live with a quiet soul before God. We pray CJ's message (http://ow.ly/211tcC), along with these excellent quotes, help you experience greater contentment in God's good purposes for you. ... Keep Reading

Thinking About Small Groups

July 2, 2013 by: Jeff Purswell

In the exciting early months of a church plant, the temptation is strong to generate a lot of activity - to identify leaders, to position people for ministry - to get people going! We’ve tried to resist this temptation, and as a result our focus has been quite simple: pray diligently, focus on the Sunday meeting (and especially the preaching of the Word), build relationships, and reach out to non-believers - and these are priorities which won’t change over time.... The Mission Nearby

June 6, 2013 by: Brian Chesemore

A few weeks ago, Jeff wrote about our enthusiastic commitment to gospel-mission (Keeping our Minds on the Mission Beyond). A love for Christ’s glory compels us to open our eyes and hearts to share the good news about our Savior. Opportunities abound across borders and overseas. And they also abound “across the street.” As a local church we have the joyful opportunity to pray for both - and to engage in both. As we think about playing our part to reach Louisville, let’s pray that our church would be marked by a loving concern for Christ’s glory and the lost. And let’s take faith-filled steps.... Preparing to Feast

May 21, 2013 by: Brian Chesemore

This past Sunday, we had the joy of concluding our meeting by participating together in the Lord's Supper. Jeff's comments served to remind us what a significant meal this is for every Christian. So if you were out of town or serving in SovGrace Kids, we wanted you to be encouraged by his comments.... Keep Reading

Reflections on South Africa

Bob and I are happy to be back in the States. Kevin DeYoung, who was also on our trip in South Africa, has recounted our time there well... Keep Reading

An exciting aspect our new church plant is seeing the many ways God is revealing his goodness and grace through the many members actively serving one another. Because of the gospel and the ascended Christ, this is a living demonstration in our midst that “To each one is given a manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (1 Cor. 12:7). God’s people are joyfully doing what they love and are gifted to do! The Holy Spirit is actively at work!... Keep Reading

Update from South Africa

April 19, 2013 by: Bob Kauflin

I’m writing from Johannesburg, South Africa, where CJ and I, along with Ligon Duncan, Kevin DeYoung, and Mark Dever, have been participating in the Rezolution Conference. It’s been a full and fruitful time, due in large part I’m sure to prayers from back home. Words can’t adequately express our gratefulness to you for praying.... Keep Reading

Headed to South Africa

April 11, 2013 by: Bob Kauflin

Yesterday, I boarded a plane from Louisville to Atlanta, where I boarded another plane that would take me the 17 hours to Johannesburg, South Africa. That's right. 17 hours. I have the privilege of leading the music for numerous conferences that are part of the Rezolution event. CJ will also be participating in, along with Ligon Duncan, Mark Dever, and Kevin DeYoung.... Keeping our Minds on the Mission Beyond

April 4, 2013 by: Jeff Purswell

One of the most exciting parts of our elders meeting yesterday was a long conversation about missions. Although we are still in the early stages of this church plant, we don’t want our specific mission here to blind us to broader opportunities beyond. And we realize that our strategic location here in Louisville will afford us both opportunities and responsibilities with regard to foreign missions.... Keep Reading
